Surface Laser for Spider Veins
An alternative to sclerotherapy, or more typically a complement to sclerotherapy, is laser vein treatment. Laser therapy can be used to destroy spider veins and small varicose veins by sending a very strong beam of light through the skin into the vein, making the vein slowly disappear. There are no needles or incisions. Patient discomfort is minimal. This can usually be soothed by cooling the skin prior to and after the procedure. Side effects are minimal and include some redness and swelling of the skin that disappears within a few days. Patients may also notice some skin discoloration for a week or two after treatment. Most veins require 2 to 5 treatments to achieve the desired results.

The experts at Inovia Vein Specialty Center can help you choose the best treatment for your spider veins. We employ the Palomar 1064 Nd:YAG laser selectively to treat certain spider veins. The 1064 nm wavelength of the spectrum is ideal for targeting blood vessels, ranging from leg veins of 3-4 mm to more superficial vascular lesions. The Palomar Lux1064 Nd:YAG handpiece delivers light in this wavelength for gentle yet powerful vessel clearance.
The light energy heats the hemoglobin within the vessel, causing the vessel walls to constrict. This thermal action inside the blood vessel causes the defective vein to close itself off, degenerate and eventually disappear.
Lux1064 leg vein treatments are the most comfortable available, thanks to Palomar's patented cooling technologies.
